Free Range farming practices are where the animals are permitted to roam freely instead of being contained in small sheds and cages, as in factory farming. The principle is to allow the animals as much freedom as possible, to live out their instinctual behaviours in a reasonably natural way even if they are later to be killed for meat. Most varieties of meat can be bought Free Range - Free Range Pork, Free Range Beef, Free Range Poultry, Free Range Chicken, Free Range Lamb.

Organic farming is a form of agriculture that relies on ecosystem management, sustainability and attempts to reduce or eliminate artificial pesticides, synthetic fertilizers and genetically modified organisms. Organic farming is also associated with support for principles beyond cultural practices, such as fair trade and environmental stewardship, although this does not apply to all organic farms and farmers.

Organic farms that raise livestock and poultry, for meat, dairy and eggs, provide animals with "natural" living conditions and feed. Ample, free-range outdoor access, for grazing and exercise, is a distinctive feature, and crowding is avoided. Feed is also organically grown, and drugs, including antibiotics, are prohibited by organic standards. Animal health and food quality are thus pursued in a holistic "fresh air, exercise, and good food" approach. varieties of meat can be bought Organically - Organic Chicken, Organic Poultry, Organic Lamb, Organic Meat, Organic Pork , and Organic Beef.

In many factory farming operations antibiotics, vitamins, hormones, and other supplements are preemptively administered to prevent potential spread of disease and encourage growth. Because these used as a preventative measure, many consumers are worried about the animals are breeding antibiotic resistant strains of various bacteria ("superbugs"). Other consumers are concerned that the additional supplements and hormones are in the meat of the animal and therefore being consumed by them unnecessarily, again creating a resistance to bacteria. Many animals are now raised on Antibiotic Free and Hormone Growth Promotent Free diets and butchers now stock many varieties of meat labelled as such.
