The selected finalists will be notified in writing. Employers must release their apprentices on the 19th September to attend TAFE Queensland, Southbank Campus, 66 Ernest Street, South Brisbane Qld, to participate in the competition
 The winner of the 2017 AMIC Qld Apprentice of the Year Competition will represent Qld at the National Competition, Melbourne, Victoria, 10-11th February 2018

2017 AMIC Qld Sausage King & Best Butchers Burger State Finals   2017 AMIC Qld Sausage King State & Best Butchers Burger Finals DINNER

AMIC Qld's Sausage King & Best Butchers Burger State Finals is on Sunday 20/8/17 from 9.00am at the Ekka Cooking Stage in the Fresh Food Pavilion (Bowen Hills, Brisbane). 

Come and watch, support and cheer on each region's overall winners as they battle it out for the title of Queensland's Sausage King or Best Butchers Burger.

The Dinner will be held Saturday 19th August at Norman Hotel, 102 Ipswich Rd, Woolloongabba.

Pre-dinner drinks from 6.00pm in the beer garden with dinner to follow from 7.00pm.

ALL CONTESTANTS, MEMBERS & INDUSTRY COLLEGES INVITED - Come share a beer, a chin wag and great food before the competition.


  2017 AMIC Qld Ham, Bacon, Jerky & Smallgoods Competition

The competition was held at the Stockmans Bar & Grill at the RNA, Tuesday 20th June. Again the standard of product from all butchers was very high. 

In the usual categories we had new members to AMIC come out as winners, e.g Gold Coast Fresh Meat Centre and Killarney Butchery.

Well done guys, great way to help boost your products and show your clientele what you have achieved. 

As per feedback from last year, the Jerky category was added into the competition this year. It proved to be successful with the entries entered and flavours judged.

We have a lot of things planned for our members this year. This includes the introduction of Member 
Network Meetings 
that will provide training, help members network, communicate new ideas and improve
their business skills. We hope to see many members attend these meetings.

We have also added a second category to the Best Butchers Burger Competition as we have had a 
fantastic response to this competition with requests to expand it. The regional competition along with 
the popular Sausage King Competition kicks off in February.
